This is the kind of good news story about refugees that deserves to be heard.

I was invited to the House of Lords yesterday to celebrate the final report of the Cedar Review into Refugee Entrepreneurship — and it was so lovely because it was an opportunity to hear the kind of good news story we don't hear often enough.

The report found that "there are an estimated 26,500 business owners in the UK from a refugee background already, and realising this potential could unlock an estimated £2 billion in additional economic contribution."

Yet it's only too often that we hear negative headlines that get shouted all over social media. Yes, there are some horrendous stories by horrible people who just happen to be asylum seekers / refugees, but there are so many, many more wonderful stories that just don't get told, but deserved to be shared.

Being a small business owner starting from nothing is hard enough as it is. Imagine having to do that in a new country because everything in your homeland has been torn apart. That's the kind of strength, courage, and resilience that needs to be celebrated.

These refugees are not asking for anything other than having the opportunity to enhance their new communities and help grow the economy. Small Business Britian and The Cedar Report carried out a wonderful review into refugee entrepreneurship and have set out a series of recommendations. You can read more about it here.

It's so nice to be able to celebrate this, and in a world with so much darkness, to shine a light on some positive news stories.
