Our Mission: Kindness in Every Cup

Here at The Blesséd Brew, our mission is simple; to carry on the legacy of founder, Bonaventure Martis, who 100 years ago, started Kulkumry Coffee Estate with a strong belief in God and the good that can be achieved through social work and caring for the environment.  He was famous for sharing his coffee harvest with the local community and we would like to honour this by carrying on with this tradition in ways that go a small way to helping the problems that our world faces today, ensuring kindness to our workers, the environment, and the creatures that live in our coffee estate.

We have pledged to reinvest 51% of profits into social and environmental projects in India.

Social Work

  • We also donate to small social enterprises in Karnataka, India, where our estate is based.  This includes the Fr Muller’s Rehabilitation Workshop and Shop which provides employment to SEND/ those with additional needs employees in Mangalore.

  • In the UK, we also donate to charities, such as providing raffle prizes to the Brain Tumour Charity.

Environmental Work

  • We pledge to reinvest in re-planting and regenerating the land.  Whilst we already use traditional, non-invasive methods of coffee growing and picking, there is always more that can be done to enhance the dwindling countryside.  From planting new trees, working with local environmental agencies to better the soil, and hosting bee hives, our mission is to leave the estate in a better place than when we were lucky enough to inherit it.

  • To cement our commitment to the environment, we have signed the Brent Climate Charter and feature in Brent Council's Green Directory.

Thank you for sharing in our mission!
