Ingredients for the Easter Chocolate Puff Pastry Nests
Puff Pastry: 1 sheet of ready-rolled puff pastry (thawed but cold).
Chocolate Spread: Approx. 150g–300g
Mini Eggs
Optional Finish: Icing sugar for dusting and extra chocolate spread for the "glue".
Step-by-Step Recipe
Prepare the Base
Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F) / GM 7and line a large baking tray with parchment paper. Unroll the first sheet of puff pastry.
Add the Filling
Spread a generous, even layer of chocolate spread over half the sheet, leaving a tiny border at the very edges. Tip: Be very generous, otherwise the pastry nest will just taste of pastry!
Sandwich and Slice
Fold the undolloped half over the half spread with chocolate spread and press the edges. Cut into strips.
Twist and Curl the Easter nest shapes
Take one strip at a time. Hold both ends and twist in opposite directions 3–4 times until it looks like a spiral. Coil the twisted strip around itself to form a circular nest shape, tucking the loose end underneath to secure it.
Bake to Golden
Place the nests on your prepared tray. Brush the tops lightly with your egg wash. Bake for 15–20 minutes until the pastry is puffed up, crisp, and a deep golden brown.
Decorate
Allow the nests to cool completely on a wire rack. Once cool, add a small dollop of fresh chocolate spread into the centre of each nest to act as "glue" and press 3 mini eggs into the middle. Finish with a light dusting of icing sugar. Enjoy with a cup of The Blesséd Brew Kaphi!
